After securing the $4,000 grant for our event, we carefully planned the logistics and the overall setup to ensure its success. Following discussions with the school administration, it was determined that we should arrive one hour prior to the start of the students' testing to set up tables and have the food ready. This gave us a clear understanding of the location and timing of the event, which was scheduled for April 12th at 7 am, just before the SATs began. Our first task was to decide on the menu, focusing on the quality and quantity of the food we wanted to serve. However, we encountered challenges as many catering services were unable to prepare the required food early in the morning. Fortunately, after some trial and error, we found a catering service that could provide 300 bacon, chorizo, and vegetarian burritos, along with fresh fruit and utensils. Delectable Catering came recommended from TJHS faculty, and they were ecstatic to help support another TJHS event; Delectable Catering worked around our grant budget. They even accommodated our request for a gluten free scramble and vegan breakfast burritos. With the caterer secured, we decided to allocate the remaining funds to purchase additional snacks and beverages. We visited Walmart and purchased Capri-Suns and cookies. With all the food and refreshments in order, we felt a sense of excitement and readiness for the big day |
